Western Medicine Is What it IS

Have you ever been in the hospital? It is like a government bureaucracy. Everyone there is just doing their job. My favorite example of this is when the nurse wakes you up at midnight to give you a sleeping pill. Wasn't I already sleeping?

Wedding Crashers sweeps MTV Movie Awards

Wedding Crashers sweeps MTV Movie Awards

Well maybe I should go see this one (or renting it is more likely) . A friend of mine swear by 'Wedding Crashers' as a movie I would really like. Of course that line oftentimes is the kiss of death, since knowing how a prerequisite for knowing I would like something is just a guessing game like lotteries or roulette. Well maybe better odds of being correct at 50/50 if we consider either yes or no my choices.

Now after thinking a moment...I believe that picking a movie I hate...easy since I hate most movies. Also for other people picking flicks they would hate will work better than a coin toss @ 50/50. Until I come up on a cross stereotype movie lover or some brainless Hollywood sycophant fuck who loves them all! Calls movies 'my stories' and fades in and out of reality at a moments notice.

Love this bizarro headline as far as truth 100%. Too bad so thin on explanations. Just that he was "tired and emotional" when the incident occurred.

Quiz: Am I a Total Jerk?

Quiz: Am I a Total Jerk?

Can I take regular criticism and unpopular actions, without remorse?
Can I cope with having double standards?
Are money and success more important than feeling good about myself?
Am I more important than the company I work for and my colleagues?
Can I suck up to important people without embarrassment?

How many of these questions can you agree with?

Welcome to My Domain

This is not a website as you will notice but a DOMAIN,
Welcome to My Domain, is a shrine of sorts to pure geekdom. It could be a hoax or satire, but I have to believe it isn't. It is too perfect in all the nerdy details.

Telemarketer's Nightmare

While many people think that telemarketers, (the workers that actually make those annoying cold calls we all hate) hate it when the caller hangs up on them because we would hate it. In actuality the telemarketing industry is not based on whether the telemarketer converts a caller. In the cold calling business it is all about the numbers! Some small percentage of people called actually are interested and will buy whatever the telemarketing company has to offer. So the key to success is calling the most people to increase sales. Think of it this way...If 3% of the people called don't hang up. Of that 3% we will say that 1% buys or agrees to the offering, so out of 100 calls 3 people will listen to the pitch and 1 person called will buy. So if telemarketer calls 1000 people she will make 10 sales. When a not interested person hangs up quickly the caller simply thinks "thank you for not slowing me down". Telemarketers look for needles in a haystack, they do not convert hay into needles! That is for a salesperson and most cold callers are not sales people.

Here in lies the fun part. Instead of hanging up on telemarkters, I chat with the, but completely off topic. With a little practice anyone can quickly learn that the telemarkter is not accostomed to this and has very little skill when talking outside of the script infront of them (the good ones memorize it and sound 'conversational'). Believe me when I say that unless there is a script of some sort, even an outline or flow chart of some sort, the cold caller has nothing to say. It is in the training. They will try some of the most feeble attempts to "get up back on the script". Do not acknowledge anytime they ask a question. Simply ask a question yourself. Your question should be somewhat related to the subject matter at first, but after 2 mins of this I usually have to step it up to keep there interest. If the telemarketer thinks that I am full on crazy they hang up and move on. Posted by Picasa

HOME BASED BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Home Based Business Opportunity

What are the chances that this guy is selling either a self-help get-rich-quick 'program' or just good old multi-level-marketing?

I particularly like how the questions states "...to completely changed every aspect of your life?" To me that is a desperate person that is willing to change everything?

I wonder about anything that is not included. I find one slightly important item missing from the entire website. Why is there no description of the actual product. Can't even buy anything at this site. What can you do because you are so amped up and ready to go. Jumping up and down...heart pounding...contact us! You get the rare opportunity to fill out a form a agree that you are ready to succeed. Why would you not be on a path of success if you can get so motivated from simply reading a hype-filled static brochure on the internet.

Now since I am suddenly changing everything, and I have just read the hype, comes the moment of truth that I have been driving towards since at least 20 minutes ago, I proceed to the FORM! I am going to request to succeed in trade for me changing everything about my live because some idiot on the web managed to cobble together this amateurish website.

I can't wait to see what exciting adventure comes next.

A Conundrum "The Problem's Primary Side Effect is 'The Problem'"

Case in point:

If I am narcissistic, and therefore care more about my image then my reality, I must at all times keep up a good image in spite of what reality may be.  The only saving grace is that I am aware of the problem have the theoretical ability to ignore my perception of reality and act or react differently then I normally would.

Does this mean I just "do the opposite of what ever I think is the best idea?" My basic why even ask why?  I can tell you that while the old saying of identifying the problem is the first step, but the second step seems to be the real bitch.  It takes hope, faith or even a little motivation to make that second step, which for me in the past has been driven by short term hedonism only.  I should try and think about the second step and how it will effect the long term.  I am not sure that I believe or even think about the future.  I find it brings in the conundrum too much.

I then remember the fact that thinking about hope as it pertains to the future for me. I start to believe my own bullshit about how things are going to be different regardless of the fact that I am unwilling to do anything about participating and I start floating away.  Just to live like that vision is the only reality that could possibility occur. So baam! I am right back in my own little fantasy world. How do I have hope without poisoning it with fantasy when the future I conceive and strive for is of my own making ( i.e. bullshit or not to start with) is obviously susceptible to my distorted perception?

Mail Order Refueling Available In UK From Petrol Direct - petroldirect.com

I would love to know if this site is really going to send fuel to some brit's house? I tried to find out if it was real, but the site returned and error and said to try again later.

I admire the irony if it is a hoax....

Otherwise it seems to have a couple of flaws in the overall safety of it's product and / or consumers. Not to mention the issue of the postal service hauling around explosive materials.

Is it real or is it Terragen?

Is it real or is it Terragen? Believe it or not this image is 100% digitally created. Everything you see was rendered using a program called Terragen (for Windows or Mac). That's 'terra' = Latin for earth or land i.e. terra firma and 'gen' for generator.

The program is free for home users and the only limits applied are the size of the output file is limited to 800x600. Still if you really want to produce poster-sized outputs pay the $80 to register.

The cool thing is that anybody can create these awesome looking landscapes by fiddling around with the various menus that control the number sets used by the program to make the renderings.

That means that if you limit the ground to 200 ft altitude and the valleys to 350 Ft below sea level, plus make the water table level 15 Ft below sea level, the resulting output will show a realtively flat landscape with a lake that surround land gently sloops down too.

Try it some time. The program is small, but of course the tax on your system to generate a rendering is brutal. Forutenately Terragen lets you previews what the output rendering will basically look like infinetly until you actually are happy and want to make a big one. Depending on the detail level of the "world" you are creating (and layers of details are as limiting as a photoshop file with 500 layers) it may take 2 minutes or 45mins. I have made some animated output frames that take 3 minutes a piece and I needed 40 frames a second for 3 minutes (thats 40x60x3=7200 frames) at 3 minutes apiece or 15 days of straight rendering.

I might have to get a big faster machine before I try to render something the likes of Shreck2 again.

Sharing computing activity

I have folding@home (FAH) on a couple of my backup machines and think it is great. Easy to give away something I wasn't using anyway to a good cause.

Unfortunately on my main machine I have to choose between FAH and google desktop et al, because if I run both together there are no resources left for me, the user, to use unless I want to work at a glacier's fastest past. The google desktop and associated programs hog so many resources (mostly RAM + Virtual Memory) that I have to shut it down (which is a more convoluted task than it should be). Why does google have to only offer a full package or nothing as my choices?

I have 1gb of DDR 400 running on a P4 2.8ghz machine with WinXP. I do have a ton of storage and I am active on the Internet, but so far after committing the last few months to using gmail, GDS and many other google toys that i enjoy, the only benefits I receive are the google desktop bar and the detailed web history. I have yet to have the desktop search find anything I am looking for on the 1st, 2nd maybe the 3rd attempt. I expect GDS to have more data that is cross referenced or crunched in a different way than ever seems available. I can find what I am looking for on my own desktop faster by poking around or using the search function in XP without the indexing service turned on ( another huge disappointment). What is GDS using upwards of 75mb's of RAM including all the various processes and hidden modules to provide barely any advantage to me if I am not experiencing new and different results of my local searches?

The 3rd party content is mostly irrelevant since many sources offer basically the same services. If my machine is idle then GDS will ramp up and use 100% of my CPU/kernel power along with 65% of my Virtual Memory, that leaves nothing for FAH which wants 100% CPU but nominal RAM. The only winner here is google being able to provide more exposure for its adsense clients. That is a fine model, but untenable for any length of time if I continue to only benefit from the fancy desktop interface and never get any worthwhile results from the desktop searches?

FAH hogs my resources also...but they are up front about it and offer workable solutions that google should take note of. First, how about GDS providing a slider bar to cap the total resources used. That includes All the various modules associated with GDS since there is never less than 4 or 5 running even when GDS is supposedly shutdown. Google could also offer a lowering of the process priorities to give more useful and relevant programs a chance to jump to the front of the resources food line. How about the choice to run only through the screen saver?

Google positions themselves as a company that whats to offer users something different, but as long as mother google always has to have 100% participation or 0% and doesn't offer fair and equitable adjustments to this model, it will remain the pseudo socially conscious behemoth that is has become. I guess if I knew that some of those wasted resources were going to FAH or some other equally deserving program I would accept the situation as something that is a good start in a positive direction.

As it is, I will choose to boot google desktop search and keep the FAH. I will somehow manage to carry the burden of spending an extra minute here and there find files on my desktop to make a contribution through distributed computing to the greater good of mankind. While I don't think Stanford University is a poor, neglected orphan in the 3rd world they are clearly more deserving of a sacrifice on any users part than google is.

Free iPod batteries, Apple to return $ from battery scam

I guess are those star-crossed idiots that love the look of the iPod never thought to wonder how Apple had made a battery that lasted for ever. Because users can't open the thing and NiMhd batties on have have maybe 500 'cycles'. Each plug-in to a power source uses up 1 of the 500. Full charge all the time freaks will have a highly temerpemtal Ipod after 15 months of use.

How come 15 months too short a lifecycle? I guess now the battery can be replaced or units take Akaline (not enviromentally safe but Apple doesn't care)

If you need a new battery, want a new battery or just like to fuck with big corporations sign up for the class action payout Apple is offering after getting busted for the disposable ipod scam

Re: 3 PM Mon -

And then when I wanted to get divorced I asked MY PITBULL who he thought was good and he sent me to her then. I definitely think you should talk to a good attorney who is female. You got to work on your ex's level or she gets to continue to effect your life. That is assuming that you will be "nobody but" and continue to work the keep her satisfied route. You seem intent on carry the cross all the way up fucking mt. Everest. Have you made a decision on how much abuse you are willing to take along the way? I would recommend the minimum but I am a pussy when it comes to confrontations that can be avoided. It is only when cornered that I turn on my pursuer...like a SCORPION....I think I am going to get a red cape to wear around downtown. I'll dub myself "the scorpion" . Does this now mean that I can randomly cuss at people and graze on whatever I see in the Ralph's?

Oh yeah, I do the anyway
