Because it is Cali babe the whole thing was different than anywhere else. The to dealers I usually deal with were not available. One was scheduling for Tues the 13th and the other is by appointment only same story. The roadside service lady couldn't believe the dealers didn't take emergency repairs.

I ended up calling the VW dealer out by the hospital that you went to for the "heart-attack" scare that was the virus thing. That dealer is the worst stereotypical sales place with high pressure, kept the drivers license as collateral.

Surprisingly the service guy in 30 secs said "battery is bad, bring it out now we will work you in". I did and he did and I am bask on the road, no cost!

I wont bore you with the 47 traumas that occurred in the middle. No input as to why or what, but I figure Franz the overly Bauhaus inspired, but under ergonomically gifted Volkswagen engineer designed an electrical system with a flaw in it somewhere. ;-)
