How Can One Sad Midwestern Radio Station Change the World?

Metro Blogging LA Just when I think the west coast is ahead of the game it looks like the cool trend in web radio is from the Midwest? In Ohio? What's worse is that I used to live in Cincinanti and thought this station was cool. Moving to California right before the millenium and enjoying the more relaxed and vibrant scene I havn't looked back much.

An then BAM! The metro blog from Los Angeles is a patron of the hottest little alturnative rock station as far as attention from internet users goes. My question is: How will the internet continue to effect the way we feel about globalization as a barrier excluding travel. The reason I want to exclude travel is simply, until it is possible to change the generally accepted travel times by implementing faster or cheaper technologies, the physical distances and costs needed to meet face-to-face, then the gloalization can not change much. The internet may effect how we travel but I am more interested in how we may not feel the need to travel or meet people as a result of shrinking the world down to a virtual society bound together by the Interent.
